TCCares: Live United
October 16-30, 2009
On October 16, the opportunity to change our community begins when Tallahassee Community College kicks off its 2009 United Way Campaign to support the United Way of the Big Bend (UWBB). In supporting the UWBB, the College will once again prove that it cares about the community it serves.
In our troubling economy, when times seem tough, there are those in the community who have even greater needs that are not being met. The United Way Campaign is one way that the College can give back to those in the community who so desperately need our support.
Like last year, this year's theme for TCC's United Way Campaign is "TCCares" and the College's goal is 100 percent participation among faculty and staff. The United Way Campaign continues through October 30.
Let's prove that Tallahassee Community College cares about its community.
Ways to participate
Fall Harvest Bruncheon
Tallahassee Community College will kick off its 2009 United Way Campaign on Friday, October 16 with a Harvest Bruncheon for students, faculty and staff in the Student Union Ballroom. For a $5 donation to the United Way, faculty and staff will be able to enjoy a brunch buffet from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Students can eat free of charge but are encouraged to participate with a matching $5 donation.
TCC President Bill Law will welcome those in attendance at the luncheon. He'll be joined by special guests, including officials from the United Way of the Big Bend and representatives from several local community agencies the College will be helping as a result of the Campaign.
"Live United" t-shirts
Show your support for the United Way Campaign by purchasing the official "Live United" campaign t-shirt. Customized in TCC's school colors of royal blue and gold and with the College's Campaign theme, the t-shirt is a great way to participate in the Campaign while demonstrating school pride. T-shirt sales begin October 5 and will continue through the duration of the Campaign. Cost is only $5 and all proceeds from t-shirt sales will be included with the College's Campaign contribution.
Spooktacular
TCC's United Way Campaign will conclude Wednesday, October 28 with a college-wide Luncheon. The event will take place at noon in the Student Union Courtyard. Faculty and staff can buy lunch for $5. Students may attend free of charge but are encouraged to show their support for the Campaign by making a matching $5 donation. All proceeds from the luncheon will be donated to the United Way and included with the College's Campaign contribution.
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to celebrate the season and to dress up for Spooktacular. The luncheon will conclude with a costume contest and pumpkin carving contest. Prizes will be given to those in attendance at the luncheon and to the best dressed participants in the costume contest.
