State of Florida Employee

Through Tallahassee Community College's State Employee Tuition Waiver Program, state employees are eligible to take up to six (6) credit hours per term on a space available basis. TCC is proud to offer state employees this opportunity to enhance their skills and job competence for a better future.

Who is eligible?

All full-time permanent state employees as certified by the agency's supervisor and agency head, and by the Bureau of State Payrolls in the Department of Financial Services. State employees who are also receiving federal financial aid are eligible to use the TCC State Employee Tuition Waiver. Note: State University System employees are not eligible for the TCC state employee tuition waiver program.

Fees

The TCC State Employee Tuition Waiver program will only cover up to six (6) credits per term. Please remember that books, lab fees, late application fees, and the student services fee are not covered by the TCC State Tuition Waiver. These fees are the responsibility of the student.

Course Exceptions

TV, Self-Paced Instruction and non-credit courses do not qualify for the TCC State Tuition Waiver Program; however, web-assisted, web-based and remedial courses are eligible.

How does it work?

In order to qualify for the TCC State Employee Tuition Program, students must register for classes on TCC Passport during the established state employee registration period given that the program works on a space available basis. Therefore, students who register for classes before this period or who are "holding seats" will be responsible for the full cost of instruction for those courses.

The tuition waiver form, which must contain the signatures of the supervisor and agency head, must be turned in immediately after the state employee has successfully registered for an eligible course (s) to avoid fee payment issues.

Required Documents

State employees must submit the TCC State Tuition Waiver Form (pdf 105.73 kB) with all of the required signatures immediately after a successful registration for an eligible course(s). In addition, state departments that handle their own payroll must submit a payroll authorization letter verifying the student's employment status, if applicable. Please remember that these documents must be submitted each session for which the student is registering. For your convenience, documents should be scanned and emailed to Enrollment Services and Student Success' Office Manager, Brittaney Johns at johnsb@tcc.fl.edu.

Registration Dates

NOTE: Effective Fall 2009, students using the State Tuition Waiver should follow the registration dates provided below for each session (Main, A, B, C). The last day to register will be the second day of classes for the specific session. Please note that the waiver only covers up to 6 hours for the entire term, not per session.

Please make sure the State waiver is submitted by the payment deadline on the fee slip or immediately after a successful course registration to avoid fee payment issues. Please call Enrollment Services and Student Success at (850) 201-8555 if you have any additional questions.
