Why TCC?

Innovation and Excellence at TCC

Since 1966, Tallahassee Community College has offered high-quality post-secondary education for the citizens of Leon, Gadsden and Wakulla counties, along with students from throughout the state, nation and abroad. With excellent academic support and classroom facilities and Web-based classes, TCC offers a variety of instructional methods to ensure student success.

Academics

TCC has earned continual listing among the Top 100 colleges in the nation for the number of associated degrees awarded. The College ranked 24th in the nation in 2005.

TCC's faculty provide a strong foundation for its many graduates moving on to Florida State, Florida Agricultural & Mechanical universities and other four-year institutions. Nearly 75 percent of TCC's A. A. graduates transfer into the State University System within a year, the highest percentage in the Florida community college system.

TCC works closely with its University Partners: Flagler College, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Barry University and St. Leo University. Each school offers students the opportunity to earn a bachelors degree without leaving the TCC campus.

Faculty Excellence

TCC's faculty is committed to learning, student success and quality improvement. Many of our faculty members have received recognition from state and national organizations as being the finest in their field.

TCC's traditionally strong faculty - rated twice the national average in doctoral degrees and years of experience - provides a strong foundation for its many graduates moving on to four-year colleges and universities.

Affordability and Flexibility

TCC's in-state tuition and fees are $60.50 per credit hour, significantly lower than those at public and private colleges and universities.

In 2004-2005, TCC provided close to $40,000,000 to students in financial aid. TCC students received 569 scholarships last year.

TCC provides day and evening classes at a variety of locations as well as online and in a variety of express sessions within each term.

Student Support Services

TCC offers several college readiness programs such as TCC Connection and the Summer Education Academy. TCC Connection and the Summer Education Academy are summer programs designed to help high school students who score below college level on the Florida College Entrance Placement Test (CPT). The programs also hope to set the stage for students' subsequent improved performance in high school.

TCC prides its on its support services for those with disabilities. We provide accommodations such as note takers, tutors, interpreters, untimed testing, an adaptive computer lab and individualized pre-registration assistance are available.

The College Reach-Out Program, the TCC Foundation and programs such as Take Stock in Children and the Challenge Scholarship provide a vision for local students wishing to include college in their futures.

Student Union/One Stop Center

TCC is committed to making all programs, services and activities accessible to our students. The One Stop Center houses student services such as admissions, student advising, career assistance and financial aid. In addition, student clubs and organizations, the College bookstore and a food court are available in the Student Union/One Stop Center.

Community Involvement

Through the College's Division of Economic & Workforce Development's (EWD) wide-range of programs, including providing performance solutions and services to regional businesses, government agencies and nonprofits, Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy's (PTLEA) public safety training programs, community development and preparing students for the GED exam, the College strives to provide outstanding services to the community. EWD's programs are delivered on the main campus and in our Service Centers throughout the region.
